On a DOS machine, what is the key to bypass autoexec.bat and go straight into the system? I think that I'm supposed to hit an f key at startup, but don't remember which one. Both of my Keynote Golds beep when I turn them on, and I'm not sure if it's the bios or something else, but I would like to start by bypassing autoexec, and seeing if that solves the problem. If not, I'm going to make a DOS bootdisk, load ASAP on it and try to start that way. Thanks.

I don't know how to bypass the autoexec load, but, why not just rename it.

Press f5 to bypass AutoExec.puke er I mean autoexec.bat.
But depending on the beep sounds like a CMOS problem.

I sincerely hope not! But I'll try f5. That's exactly what I was seeking. *smile*

Agree with Leo; probably the CMOS throwing some form of error because its battery is dead. Hopefully just a case of setting the correct time then carrying on as normal. You'll need eyes to fix & the battery will need to be replaced.

*smile* It will be fun trying to replace that battery, as the machines are both about 18-years-old!
